But as a quick update to the Lip Service post, I was recently contacted by a dear friend from 2 previous original bands.  Initially I was going to sit in with his group on a one off gig but that unfortunately did not come to fruition.  But since we’re slowly moving forward towards a reboot, maybe an old band, maybe a new, some of the old originals could possibly be involved, and some new writing.  It’s slow for now, but I am ever SO hopeful.  He and I have corroborated on some really great originals in the past and it is so good and exciting that we embark toward another venture.  Stayed tuned.

No, not the movies or the television series.  Not the rye whiskey. Not the various businesses or songs.  Not even the most awesome song by Max Webster off the 1978 “Mutiny Up My Sleeve” album.

No, this is possibly best summed up by The Cambridge Dictionary as simply “to say that you agree with something but do nothing to support it”.  Yeah, or maybe just “all talk and no action”. Why, you might wonder, is this a topic for a post here? Well it’s one of those life and faith lessons that, when you least expect it, smacks you hard in the face. more »

It occurred to me the other day, that I haven’t posted in quite a while.  Aside from the numerous problems that don’t seem to ever have an end, there’s not a lot to write about.  No one wants to read about my issues.  We ALL have issues.  Some times the sea is smooth like glass.  Other times it’s angry and violent.  We all are adrift on that same sea, merely in different locations.  So with that said… let’s proceed with politics, music, faith…

Hanging out your shingle for business is always fraught with challenges of some kind.  Doing so in a quaint little arts village has indeed been that, just possibly on a smaller scale.  I’ve done service oriented business over the years, primarily web development or hosting, but that didn’t hardly prepare me for running a specialty retail shop.

At what point does the autumn of life begin?  Is it possible for someone to tell when they have reached that?  Or rather than being a well defined autumn season, as in there are merely 4 seasons in life, are there potentially an endless number of seasons and then the end?  This is by no means some sort of morbid discussion but rather a desire to understand the ‘now’. more »

I have been so very blessed to live most of my life without any terrible physical injuries.  Oh there have been plenty of illness, allergies, a bout with fibromyalgia which seemed to be more un-diagnosed stress than anything, and that brain tumor.  That has changed. more »

MomShe gave birth to me.  She read to me and helped me learn to read.  She taught me right from wrong and in spite of having some liberal view points taught me conservative values.  She introduced me to a wide array of musical styles and supported me when I wanted to learn to play drums, and then guitar.  She loved to travel and made sure we were able to see different parts of the country, including a tour of the White House and sitting in during a congressional session in 1976, the bicentennial year.  She supported me in all my decisions and pursuits as an adult, during my triumphs, and in my sorrow.  She was a great cook.  She loved to laugh and throw parties and have fun.  She had a true green thumb and really enjoyed gardening.  She was a wonderful grandmother to my daughter.  She was my mom, and she left us to return home on January 16, 2017. more »
