Based on the true and tragic story of Daniel Pearl.

Angelina Jolie potrays Mariane Pearl, the wife of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who in 2002 was kidnapped and ultimately murdered by Al-Qaeda friendly wackos as a weak attempt to retaliate against the U.S. for prisoner treatment at Guantanamo Bay.  Once again, Jolie proves she’s an excellent dramatic actress.  She rightfully was nominated for several awards for her performance in this film.  Unfortunately, for the memory and tragedy of Pearl, as well as for Jolie’s performance, this is a really slow movie.  A lot of slow dialogue.  Perhaps I was too tired when I watched it, but this movie did not capture or hold my attention at all, and I am a fan of the thinking type of movie.  If it’s true to history, it’s worth watching for more perspective on this event.  But it won’t bring you anywhere near the edge of your seat.
