A quick review.  Definitely on par with The Da Vinci Code, from the writing/story line, to the directing, to the photography, to the acting.  The only thing I feel that detracts from excellence is in how it almost too closely parallels Da Vinci Code, meaning it wasn’t completely unpredictable and so therefore didn’t seem as fresh.  But it is a sequel, and considering that it’s one of the best sequels out there.  A must see.

Quick review of this one.  Denzel Washington who rarely gives a bad performance, and John Travolta who can be hit or miss, but he hits this one.  Not your typical action movie but there’s plenty of action.  It’s more of a psychological thriller.  It’s a remake with some new twists, of the hijacking of a NY City subway train.  This is a really good movie.  A definite see!

Here’s an interesting and new article from Eatingwell Magazine reviewing the latest findings on the health benefits (or not) of moderate alcohol consumption.  Apparently the most compelling word when it comes to drinking is “moderation”.  The author Kristin Ohlson, who admits she does drink, sums up the article with “So I’ll keep drinking, but remind myself that “moderate” is somewhat short of the number of drinks that inspire me to call my brother and sing Daffy Duck’s Rhapsody.”  Too Funny!

A buddy of mine recently gave me a digital copy of an album I bought on vinyl in the early 1980’s and listened to a lot.  I haven’t heard it since way back when ever it was that my turntable belt snapped.  After many years it’s really good to hear it again.  At least for the first few minutes.

Today is election day.  Here in Indiana most polls are closed with the exception of a few counties that have referendums on extra funding for certain school districts, and here in Marion county (a.k.a. Indianapolis) the great public health care institution Wishard Hospital is requesting funds to build new facilities to replace the aging and deteriorating one they currently have.  It seems like a no-brainer.  It is NOT.

I watch a lot of movies.  Some I post here.  Many I do not, either because I don’t take the time to or frankly, because they stink and don’t deserve my time.  This is sort of a movie review, except it’s about a series.  A very well produced television series by CBS, that really isn’t a series in the sense of the norm on TV.
